Learn More: Rainfall

What does this mean?

Rainfall is a major factor influencing water levels and flows. Rainfall varies over time and space and is one factor that determines the distribution of plants and animals. This section includes the latest rainfall data averaged across all rainfall data collection stations located within the watershed.

Data is presented as month-to-date total rainfall, historic monthly average rainfall, year-to-date total rainfall and a 2-year trend graph.

How are the data collected? (Methods)

Rain gauges are monitored in near real-time by automated devices.

Calculations

Data are calculated as an average of all sampling locations found within the watershed.

Caveats and Limitations

Rainfall amounts vary greatly from place to place. Averages often do not reflect the rainfall that fell at any given location (like your house), but give a better overall picture of the impact of storms.
