Cape Coral ready to ramp up watering restrictions
The city of Cape Coral is getting close to ramping up water restrictions due to the drought.
We were told the recent rain wasn't enough and a one-day-per-week watering schedule could be in the works.
The city said there are less than two weeks left before they can no longer pull freshwater from the canals. Cape Coral hasn't seen any significant rain since November leaving water levels in canals to drop and lawns to dry up.
"The canals are down three feet or more and like our yard here is getting quite brown," said Gerard Zimney.
However, Zimney is confident his lawn will make it through the drought. "It'll live. It'll make it through, and it will survive," he said.
