Lee County’s Pine Lake Preserve to close temporarily for re-hydration project

FORT MYERS – Pine Lake Preserve, 27225 Kent Road, Bonita Springs, will be closed for an environmental restoration project starting on Monday, Feb. 1.

The preserve is expected to re-open in May. Check the website www.leeparks.org/preserves for the latest updates. For more information about Lee County Parks & Recreation locations, amenities and special events, visit www.leeparks.org, call 239-533-7275 or email leeparks@leegov.com.

About the project:

The Pine Lake Preserve Re-hydration Project by the City of Bonita Springs will reestablish hydraulic connectivity between the Imperial River and its historic watershed to the east. This project aims to redirect water flows south onto the Pine Lake Preserve property from an existing stormwater ditch on the property's northern boundary. Once on-site, stormwater will be directed via overland sheet flow into two existing shallow ponds. The ponds will be modified to outfall to another overland sheet flow condition, ultimately converging into an existing severed tributary of the Imperial River.
