Manatee Poisoned by Red Tide Rescued in Bonita Springs

A manatee rescued Tuesday afternoon in Bonita Springs is in good shape and recovering at the Miami Seaquarium, according to Cristina Rodriguez, public relations manager for the facility.

The female manatee was found by two kayakers in Intrepid Waters.

“She is doing much better,” Rodriguez said. “She regained some of her mobility. She is breathing more regularly. We have seen a stark improvement over yesterday. We do feel she will make a complete recovery.”
