Cape Coral Council Approves Emergency Water Restrictions
Despite a string of residents voicing their opposition to the measure, Cape Coral’s City Council on Monday passed an ordinance that allows the city to restrict or eliminate watering during a drought.
Council members cited a need to take proactive steps toward preventing catastrophe with the city’s irrigation water supply, which is also used for firefighting in certain sections of the city.
“We have to start becoming good stewards of our water; it’s just that simple,” Councilman Marty McClain said. “We have to govern and watch ourselves.”
