Lee County officials express concern over latest Conservation 20/20 land buy request

Lee County needs to rework its rules for making conservation land purchases under the troubled Conservation 20/20 program, the head of a task force told commissioners Monday.

But three of the five task force members say the official recommendations don’t go far enough to restore public faith in the process.

Meanwhile, two commissioners, the county clerk and some commercial real estate brokers expressed concerns Monday about county staff’s latest request to make a 20/20 acquisition.
