Bonita Springs Utilities wins excellence award from FDEP

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection has honored Bonita Springs Utilities with the 2012 Plant Operations Excellence Award for the East Water Reclamation Facility. BSU was one of seven statewide winners recognized as examples of the best water treatment and conservation solutions the state has to offer. FDEP regulates about 2,100 domestic wastewater facilities.

Winning facilities go through a rigorous judging process, in addition to demonstrating excellence during unannounced inspection visits throughout the year. Facility upkeep, current and appropriate certifications, and staff training on the latest water monitoring rules and techniques are evaluated. Wastewater facilities also have the opportunity to provide evidence of innovative solutions to water conservation problems, improvements to maintenance processes or specific examples of excellence.
