Webinar Aug. 28th on Lake O releases and effect on St Lucie, Caloosahatchee Rivers

LAKE OKEECHOBEE – 1000 Friends of Florida and The Everglades Foundation will hold a free webinar on the environmental crisis involving the St. Lucie and Caloosahatchee rivers. The rivers are receiving nutrient-rich water from Lake Okeechobee as the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers releases water to reduce the threat of breaching the Herbert Hoover Dike around the lake. The Florida Senate has established a select committee to study the situation and recommend action. The webinar will be held from noon until 1:30 p.m.
