Dock match program

The Punta Gorda Boaters Alliance, in partnership with the City of Punta Gorda announce a "Dock Matching" program for all Punta Gorda homeowners who are affected by the recent seawall failures as a result of Hurricane Irma. Over 925 properties have incurred seawall failures which will all need to be replaced, extending over 15 miles. For a detailed list, go to the City website at www.pgorda.us and click on the link for Storm Related Seawall Failures.

Homeowners who are affected by seawall failures will need to relocate their boats either immediately or while their new seawalls are installed. Local citizens who have vacant docks can make their docks available for short or long term use by individuals who have boats that will be displaced due to seawall replacement.

If you own a dock that you would like to make available, go to the Punta Gorda Boaters Alliance website at www.boat2puntagorda.org and click on the "Dock Match" button. This will take you to a form which you will need to complete to register your dock, and have it placed on a list of available docks.

Boat owners who need to relocate their boats may go to the same page on the website, where you will see a list of available docks with pertinent information (length, depth, etc.) You may contact the owner of the dock through the email listed. All docks are subject to an agreed upon fee (if any) by the dock owner. Those who will be using rental docks may be asked to sign a Liability Waiver by the dock owner.

This is a community service intended to assist boat owners who find it necessary to relocate their vessel during the time period of new seawall installation. The Boaters Alliance assumes no liability with this program.

For more information, you may contact John Welsh, President of the Boaters Alliance, at (941) 205-0042 or City Council Liaison, Lynne Matthews at (941) 575-3341.
