Portions of Venice Myakka River Park closed for safety

Venice Myakka River Park, 7501 E. Laurel Road, is experiencing river flooding and parts of the park have been closed for safety, according to Sarasota County Parks and Recreation. This park at the east end of Laurel Road is maintained by Sarasota County.

The park is still open to the public at this time, but the back of the park is closed due to flooding. Barricades have been placed on the sidewalk.

The kayak launch still open for use.

The County will monitor and assess the park daily.
