Higel Marine Park partial closure 2/16

A contractor with Sarasota County Parks and Recreation will be removing invasive Australian pine at Higel Marine Park, 1330 Tarpon Center Dr. in Venice, on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

Boaters have had issues with height clearance due to the invasive pine. The restroom and pavilion area at Higel Park will be closed to public access Tuesday while this removal is in progress.

The boat ramp and select parking will remain available to patrons. Boaters are encouraged to use the ramp at Marina Park at the Venice Train Depot, 301 E. Venice Ave., if they are unable to park at or access Higel.

The Venice Police Marine Unit will be on site or on call to monitor the water side of the project, which is expected to be complete in one day.
