City of Cape Coral fights to keep water levels stable as dry season approaches
CAPE CORAL – If you live on a freshwater canal in Cape Coral, it might be time to check your water level.
The city said they are already taking steps to maintain the water at its current level. They said water levels tend to drop this time of year.
Jeff Pearson has served as the utilities director for Cape Coral for the past 10 years. In that time, he’s seen some droughts.
“Its between February to May when we see the canal levels starting to decline,” Pearson said “They have gotten low due to some severe droughts we’ve had. Back in 2012, they got pretty low, in 2017 and 2020.”
