Cape Coral considers project to reduce flooding along Hancock Bridge Parkway

CAPE CORAL – The City of Cape Coral is working to prevent flooding along Hancock Bridge Parkway, especially during the rainy season.

Hancock Bridge Parkway is a main route to and from the city. It also serves as an evacuation route during hurricanes and other natural disasters.

City council could soon pass an ordinance which allows upgrades to storm drains that will help move water away from Hancock Bridge Parkway.

Those improvements could be installed along Hancock Creek Boulevard.

People who live in the area say Hancock Bridge Parkway is the busiest it’s ever been. They notice asphalt falling apart and more crashes in recent years.

They hope the upgrades will prevent hydroplaning crashes and large pools of standing water.
